Recycling Today explores how the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) is advancing education and safety standards across the auto recycling industry through the Automotive Recycling Training Institute (ARTI). Founded in 2021, ARTI streamlines ARA’s training programs to address the evolving challenges of hybrid and electric vehicle recycling, safety, and compliance. The article also highlights ARTI’s 2023 partnership with SHiFT® — a Rhode Island-based sustainability initiative — on the Vehicle Retirement Initiative. Together, ARA and SHiFT® are helping recyclers maximize reuse, improve environmental outcomes, and strengthen the circular economy through certified end-of-life vehicle processing and workforce education.
