North America’s largest provider of student transportation has partnered with ARS to responsibly retire eligible fleet vehicles through the SHiFT Vehicle Retirement Initiative. Instead of simply disposing of aging vehicles, proceeds from their sale will be donated to charitable organizations beginning with Special Olympics North America.
Giving End-of-Life Vehicles a Greater Purpose
Every vehicle has a lifecycle, but its impact doesn’t have to end when it’s no longer roadworthy. By combining responsible vehicle retirement with charitable giving, First Student and ARS are demonstrating how organizations can extend the value of their fleets beyond transportation.
The first beneficiary of this initiative is Special Olympics North America, an organization that serves more than 800,000 athletes across the United States and Canada. Funds generated through the sale of eligible retired vehicles will help support year-round sports training and competition, health programs, leadership opportunities, and initiatives that foster inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
