SHiFT® Vehicle Retirement Initiative is a social enterprise committed to helping consumers and companies responsibly recycle vehicles with environmentally sound protocols from start to finish.
This is a new program that takes the industry further by retiring internal combustion engines and bringing together a diverse partnership network focused on telling this fantastic recycling story.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are all vehicles eligible for the SHiFT program?
We can accept almost every vehicle submitted to our program, no matter its condition. We can accept vehicles that are non-running, damaged, or totaled.
If for whatever reason your vehicle is not eligible, we are happy to review the best environmentally-conscious alternatives with you.
Is SHiFT available everywhere?
We have a nationwide network of certified recyclers ready to pick up vehicles in most locations. If a SHiFT partner is not in your area, we will help you find other environmentally responsible options.
What if I can't find my title?
If you can’t find your title, you may still be able to send your car through SHiFT. Our team of title experts are well-versed in every state’s requirements and can help you if we need to apply for a duplicate.
Will I receive a tax deduction?
By choosing to donate your vehicle through the SHiFT Vehicle Retirement Initiative® you may be eligible to receive a tax deduction.
Through our partnership with the Automotive Recyclers Association, your vehicle donation supports the important work of the Auto Recycler Training Institute, a 501c3 which works to train the industry on the best environmental practices of auto recycilng.
What does SHiFT cost?
Absolutely nothing. There are no costs to you to use our program, and pick-up and towing are free.
